Reading..

Finally i put an abrupt end to my gaim-plugin-writing spree.. And took up reading instead. Read Airframe by Michael Crichton.. thoroughly enjoyed it. Now reading "Lord of the Rings" by J.R.R Tolkien. It'll take me a few dayz to read this one..

Hmm.. on the tech front, am thinking of working on my MFS(Matrix File System) project, actually have to give a presentation for my subject - Distributed and Parallel Computing, .. Trying to take this as an opportunity or motivation to work on MFS again. And get it working ... Will have to read a lot before i can start tho'.. Starting with Distributed Operating Systems and Distributed Systems by Tanenbaum. I'll get hold of these two books n then see where i need to start!

Gaim again!! :)

Hmm been workin on a plugin for gaim again.. This one lets anyone on my buddy list download whatever track that i'm listening to.. (displays track title as my yahoo status msg).. Something like.. anyone wishing to get the track can just send

!!get_current_track!!

And the music file gets sent to the user as a normal yahoo file transfer.. automatically!! :)
Once this was working.. added support for more commands.. to offer a list of files.. which can be set per user and a "general" list for just anyone on my buddy list..

Hmm.. then added another command to it to make my playlist avail as an html file which has ID numbers for every track which can be used to get the tracks from me.. (all automatically obv.. )

Alllrite.. its nothing great.. hmm but was bored! :D
Need to finalize that file transfer patch n send it off ... Hmm Have connected a radio to my comp and am streaming audio on the lan.. good change from the usual stuff.. heh
Lotsa stuff to read... but am too sleepy right now.. so i'll write again.. soon..

Gaim..

Highlight of the last few dayz.. or more.. was a gaim hack i did .. to allow it to send files directly b/w machines using the yahoo messenger protocol.. Before this it allowed only max of 1Meg files to be sent..but now it can send a file of any size!!!

Hmm now the next more.. painful step.. clean it up.. add reqd gui stuff to it.. prepare the patch n mail it.. Well.. will work on it now.. though I am feeling damn lazy about it..

Wierd.. once i started to work on this... the world around me simply disappeared.. and i managed to work almost non-stop on this.. and now when its the time to take it thru' that last 1 mile.. i am feeling extremely lazy!!!

How true.. It is so easy to let all those "nice" compliments or stuff about you get to ure mind.. n give u the illusion that u know stuff.. Kinda like jams the brakes on learning.. hmm.. bad..

Another patch that i need to work on for gaim is for adding support for Stealth Settings for the yahoo messenger protocol..
